Portraits in the studio. March 2016.

Monochrome, dramatic, simple, raw, all about the subject.

Portrait photography strikes me in a way that landscapes, products, or food could never do. I love taking photos of people. There's depth in their faces, stories in their eyes, and confidence in their posture. Every detail makes a person unique in their own way, and I love seeing and capturing that sincerity. In the context of a studio, all the attention is on the subject. There are no props, judging eyes from passerby, or overwhelming sunlight. Without gimmicky details, studio portraits are honest in the most raw definition. When the light hits you right, in that moment, you become a timeless work of fine art.
