Wanderer
I love photographing Karla. She's got that cool girl vibe and can channel so much thought into her gaze. She knows her angles and does her own makeup flawlessly like a boss. We went out to beach and sand dunes, and this ended end up being my favorite look.
Continuing on with my sand dunes o̶b̶s̶e̶s̶s̶i̶o̶n̶ series, I think this was the first time I've ever embraced shooting in direct sunlight. Sure it was golden hour and all, but something just felt right, almost spiritual. The sun was my beauty dish. And it was perfect.
Making my selects from the flowing dress outfit, I love this image the most, because it's so natural and candid. It was our last shot of the day, and the breeze was coming in as nightfall encroached. The full moon lingered in the background against the pastel sky and everything felt...magic.
I'm still obsessed with the dunes. It's a limitless playground full of so many opportunities, and I only wish that I'd discovered it earlier during my time in SLO. But I'm so glad we managed to squeeze this shoot into our last week of school. I can't wait to come back to these dunes and experiment with nudes! (Eeeeeeep so much excitement!) Any volunteers?
Sword ferns, mosses, and redwood sorrel blanket the forest floor. The forest is dense but when pockets of sunshine burst through the canopies, the view is magic.
Inspired by Herb Ritts, I went to Coney Island with model and dancer Anica, and played around with chiffon, the sand, and the water.
I love the idea of models at the beach. The combination is just so iconic, and reminiscent of the black and white images of supermodels from the past (Elle MacPherson, Claudia Schiffer, Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington) by Herb Ritts and Peter Lindbergh. It was so natural, simple, unretouched, and beautiful.

For the studio shots, I wanted to capture the photos you'd normally see of Olympic athletes: physique portraits in dramatic, beautiful light. The shots at the pool are environmental portrait-inspired.
We found a couple of cute spots at the OC Mix in Costa Mesa for our casual fashion photoshoot.
Reflectors are coming with me to every photoshoot from now on...now where do I order a walking reflector holder?
I love photographing well-dressed friends and capturing their contagious restless energy in one of the most unique and gorgeous natural settings on the Central Coast.
This year's theme promotes filmmaking on the central coast. San Luis Obispo County stretches from Big Sur up north down to the dunes by Pismo Beach to the rolling green hills behind Cal Poly to the wineries in Paso Robles.
There's something so feminine and powerful about the way they move their bodies, and the way a dress reciprocates their every step, every leap, every twirl.
Doing what you like is freedom. Liking what you do is happiness.
