Postcards from Seattle, 2026
It’s been a crazy sprint of a month. Between appointments, party planning, hosting, performance reviews, packing, traveling, work, and childcare, I’m so happy to be home to finally rest without having to prepare for the next big thing. As I catch up on photo editing and long overdue vlogs, I wanted to share a few snaps from our week in Seattle/Bellevue. Although it was a work trip, Simon and Clover tagged along and made a fun week out of it.
It’s been almost a decade since I last set foot in Seattle, and since I got all the touristy things out of the way the first few times, this visit we opted to meet up with a few friends in the area and venture out to wherever they recommended.
The blues: Waterfront Park (Pier 26), Puget sound, Green lake, gas works park
Water every direction, and so many beautiful landscaped waterfront destinations.
The greens: Redmond, Larsen Lake Blueberry Farm, Meta Bellevue Office, Snoqualmie Falls
Having spent most of my life in California, I feel like I don’t even truly understand what the color green looks like. Summers here are defined by a dusty backdrop of golden (dead) grass. But up north, Washington had some of the most vibrant, lush, and impossibly green trees I’ve ever seen. Nature was alive and glowing.
The gold: Bellevue Botanical Garden
On our last day, we spontaneously decided to have a picnic dinner, and Simon suggested the nearby botanical garden. My expectations were low but I was blown away at the serenity of a well-maintained but uncrowded garden glowing in the last rays of sunlight. I couldn’t believe this place was free to enter (unheard of)! We found a nice bench in the rock garden and shared milk bread sandwiches and a tray of nigiri (shoutout Uwajimaya) before accidentally taking some of the best family photos we’ve ever taken (10-second timer dash, you know the drill). I only wish I would’ve done more research ahead of time and allotted for a longer visit. But what a delight.
It was a surprisingly charming couple of days stumbling upon fruit trees and berry bushes on random street corners and driving down highways surrounded by towering evergreen forests. (What am I, a fairy in an enchanted forest?) Thank you PNW for being so generous with your sunshine (during a time when we have none back at home.) Excited to see it all again on the next adventure.
