Marvelous

I spent the last week in New York City, and boy do I miss the energy of the city and the opportunity to create at every turn. I met up with my friend Anica and played dress up in Central Park. I desperately miss collaborating on impromptu things like this.

Since I was traveling, I only had my Fujifilm to shoot on. The 23mm focal length strays from my typical 50mm but I actually really enjoyed it for a fashion shoot. The close up portrait perspective is more dynamic and spontaneous, and I’m learning to love the imperfect focus and dreamy motion blurs. The photos are more about the moment and the movement rather than technical perfection, which I’ve never cared for anyway.

The film-like quality of the images and the way they’re post-processed suits Anica’s outfit of choice, a vintage-inspired getup that reminds me of Audrey Hepburn and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. I’m in love with the pink and green combo, as well as the headscarf and sunglasses Old Hollywood vibe.

Fashion. Photography. Central Park. Is there a more perfect way to spend a morning?
